Icelandair Adds Denver
Icelandair announced today that it will begin year-round service from Denver to Iceland in May 2012 with four flights a week to Reykjavik.
From its hub in the country's capital, the airline serves more than 20 cities in the United Kingdom and continental Europe and the Denver service is expected to provide lower-cost options for flying to Europe.
Icelandair, which is the flagship carrier of Iceland, said Denver will be its ninth North American gateway.
The airline said that on May 11, 2012, Flight 670 will begin service from Denver International Airport with non-stop flights to Reykjavik on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Thorsteinn Egilsson, general manager of Icelandair for the Americas, said Denver travelers will now have a fresh alternative when traveling to Europe.
He promised that Icelandair will enter the Denver market with competitive air fares and convenient routes to Iceland and from there to Europe.
Egilsson said that special roundtrip fares for flights between Denver and European destinations - with the one stop in Iceland - will be as low as $729.
In addition to Denver, Icelandair offers non-stop service to Iceland from Boston, New York-JFK, Seattle, and seasonal service from Washington, D.C., Minneapolis, Orlando Sanford, Halifax and Toronto.
Connections through Icelandair's hub at Keflavik International Airport in Reykjavik allow customers to reach more than 20 destinations in Scandinavia, the British Isles and Europe. Icelandair also allows passengers to stopover in Iceland at no additional airfare.
